What is a good saltwater lure to use?
I live in the Tampa Bay Florida area and I fish off my dock all the time. I never have any luck with any kinds of lures and I’m tired of always buying live bait. Does anyone know of any kind of lure that works well in this kind of area? Thanks in advance!

I was raised fishing on a dock in Florida.
The key to catching fish on a dock in Fla is attracting fish TO YOU.
You must make YOUR dock (and the area surrounding your dock) the hottest spot in the area.
Here’s how you DO that:
#1. Purchase or make your own Chum.
When you are stuck on a dock waiting for the fish to come to you, a nice CHUM-Slick will attract fish to your area and save you time while fishing.
Either buy some already-made chum at a local bait & tackle OR buy some fish flavored "dry" Catfood, bread crumbs and mix with creek mud, (make sure to crush the catfood inside a plastic zip-lock bag before adding to your mud-ball). Then, make softball-sized balls and create a barrier of these "chum balls" all around your property and dock!
Do this at the end of LOW Tide and by the time mid-tide arrives your dock will be the #1 "Hotspot" on your creek/canal.
It’s important to give your Chum TIME to work. Don’t expect to see immed results after you create your chum barrier. Throw them out toward the end of LOW tide and begin your fishing at mid-tide, (about 2-3 hours later).
#2. DON’T USE A BOTTOM RIG! Always use a Cork-rig with live Shrimp, finger Mullet and Mud-minnows. Fish this rig about 3 FT OFF the bottom. Bait stealers like Spots, Sailors Choice, Hard Head Catfish, Etc tend to hug the bottom. If you can keep your bait OFF the bottom you will have better luck. Popping Corks are esp productive- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10209363____SearchResults
#3. Jigs are inexpensive, easy to use and VERY productive. Purchase some 1/8 OZ & 1/4OZ Jigs in Chartreuse and Red colors. Thread a Berkley Saltwater Gulp Jerkshad onto one of these Jigs. Bump it along the bottom like a live Shrimp trying to escape. Jerkshad- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_75761____SearchResults
Don’t forget , Jigs can be used with Live Shrimp and Mud-minnows as well. Thread a Live Shrimp "tail first" on one of your Jigs OR a Mud-minnow/Finger mullet through the upper lip. This is a very popular way to fish Live bait.
Anyway, hope this helps ya? If you follow these instructions I can almost guarantee you’ll increase your catch ratio. Let me know if you catch anything?
