beginners need to start no smaller than 55 gallons, a 10 gallon is common for beginners but basically all of them fail because the smaller you go, the harder it will be.
You want a 55 gallon tank with a protein skimmer, and HOB filter. Live sand and rock, 1 pound per gallon. Then you want a hydrometer to measure the salinity of the water. it should read around 1.020-1.025 or 33PPT for saltwater.
Then you want to cyce the tank for 2-4 weeks.
After everything is established and water parameters level out for fish, you can stock with some beginner fish like a pair of ocellaris clownfish, firefish, gobies, and a dwarf angelfish.
You need to be willing to listen and start with a larger aquarium…
you need a big tank. i would say 55 gallons at the least?
And the tank should run without fish for at least 6 – 12months. (long time to wait but very rewarding in the end). I hope you do know saltwater fish are VERY Expensive, At first when the aquarium is ready, try damsels. Not the one like Dori from finding Nemo, but the cheaper ones. And possibly a cleaner shrimp. A lot more info is needed, so try googling it.
I really hope i helped
P.S. This is just bits and pieces from my memory when i did research about salt water aquariums.
