Freshwater when young, brackish as juvies and saltwater as adults.
they are not saltwater fish they are brackish water fish
They can adapt to salt, fresh, or brackish water, but they do best in brackish water, which is half salt-half fresh water. Freshwater is what they do the least well in.
I have mine in freshwater..Thats what it was in when I bought , so thats what I kept it in!! Cute little guy. Give them shrimp and listen to them eat!!
ive heard that they do good in both.
